Today, Monday, December 19, the episode began with a report by ERT’s parliamentary journalist, Andreas Marathias, who informed us about the vote on the budget for the year 2023 by the Greek parliament, which was completed on Saturday night, after the political debate between party leaders. At the same time, he informed us about the Prime Minister’s announcement on the new support measure, “Food Pass”, in which the state will cover 10% of food purchases for each household and the reactions caused in the political parties by the announcement of this measure.
Then, ERT’s financial editor Akis Athanasopoulos gave us detailed information on the new “Food Pass” measure, explaining how it works, when it takes effect, and who the beneficiaries are.
This was followed by a discussion on the most important issues of current political affairs, with the MP for Magnesia of the New Democracy party Christos Boukoros.
In the second part of the episode, the guest was Father Georgios Basioudis, coordinator of the Network of Greek Institutions and Associations Rhein-Neckar, who spoke to us about the proposal of the Network for the creation of a modern museum of Hellenism Abroad in Greece, that will represent the Greek diaspora all over the world. As Father Georgios Basioudis said, a relevant resolution was delivered to the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, responsible for Expatriates, Andreas Katsaniotis, and as he noted, the resolution proposes that the headquarters of the museum be in Thessaloniki, since for the last 70 years the majority of Greek immigrants are coming from the wider region of Northern Greece. He stressed, however, that with an aim of immediate implementation of the proposal, for the transitional stage, the Network proposes the establishment of a “digital museum of the Diaspora”.
