Infinitely Curious: The concept of eudaimonia | 12.02.2023

Eudaimonia or some people call it Bliss in English is the supreme good of life. Everything we do is aimed at our bliss. But is this goal, bliss, the same for everyone? Perfect eudaimonia is the greatest good for Aristotle. It is the work of man, which distinguishes him from all other living beings. Theoretical preoccupation is the divine element in man, that which he has in common with God. Throughout his work Aristotle defends virtue over pleasure, eudaimonia over happiness. The purpose of life is neither entertainment nor rest. Its aim is the constant flow of energy. Endocrinologist and pediatrician George Chroussos talked to us about creative stress as a biological function and how it can lead us to eudaimonia, the author of the book Nature Art and Subconscious Messages Fotini Tyrasky explained how the words and phonemes we choose to describe concepts such as psychi – soul and eudaimonia in the Greek language have fire and light because we are light, and psychologist Anna Maria Sakellariou helped us better understand how accepting ourselves and our vulnerability can open the way to eudaimonia.
