Customs and traditions from all corners of Greece on ”Fair Winds and Following Seas” | 06.01.2024

A multitude of customs and traditions, with roots deeply hidden in time, continue to revive every year on the day of Epiphany in all corners of Greece. We will remember them while listening to Epiphany carols and beautiful songs in the show “FAIR WINDS AND FOLLOWING SEAS – WEEKEND SHIFT” by Antonis Karagiannakis, on Voice of Greece.

We will get into the holidays spirit with the Blessing of the Waters”Ragoutsaria”, the famous Kastorian Carnival; the “Kirialeison” in Karpero, Grevena; the “Fotokoliva” and the bells blessing in Crete; the “Giala – Giala” in Ermioni of Argolida; the “Camel and the Bride” in Galatista of Halkidiki.

We will talk about Tzamalaria, the “candles in the water” in mountainous Ermakia; the “Marmarites” in Kos; the custom with orange and cypress in Sidirokastro, Asvestochori of Thessaloniki and some Aegean islands; the “Sagia” in Nea Karvali; the “Momogeroi“; the “Fotarades”; the “Arapides”; the “Bell-bearers and Camels” and many more customs of the Epiphany.
