On Wednesday, January 24th, 2024, Alexis Kostas hosted the Greek soprano/cellist Lydia Zervanos.
Lydia Zervanos was born in Athens. Her extensive collaboration as a cellist with numerous internationally renowned professional ensembles in Greece and abroad such as the Athens Youth Symphony Orchestra, the BIOS Camerata, the Mediterranean Youth Orchestra, the Jeunesses Musicales World Orchestra etc. has profoundly influenced her development as a musician.
The talented musician has repeatedly collaborated with organizations and orchestras such as the Beggars’ Operas, Neuköllner Oper, the Greek National Opera, the Athens Festival, the Thessaloniki Megaron, the International Festival of the Aegean, the Alltagsoper Berlin, the Athens Philharmonia Orchestra and the National Symphony Orchestra, performing leading roles and first performances of works.
At the same time, her love for classical singing led her to personal recitals in America, Germany, Greece, and Switzerland, while a special place in her activity is the publication of her book Singing in Greek: A Guide to Greek Lyric Diction & Vocal Repertoire (Rowman & Littlefield, ©2015) which makes the pronunciation of the Greek language accessible in singing and expands the reach of the Greek vocal repertoire beyond the boundaries of Greece.
