Those who attended, on the evening of Thursday, March 21st, on World Poetry Day, in studio 5 of the ERT musical ensembles, experienced something very special which will remain etched in their memory forever. Together with them, the millions of listeners of the Voice of Greece traveled to the dream worlds of poetry; they watched for over two hours the event prepared by the World Radio of ERT entitled “The voice of poets in the Voice of Greece”, through the channels that transmitted it to all the lengths and breadths of the earth.
The voices of the poets who recited their poems were alternated with wonderful music and songs, by an orchestra created especially for this evening, and everyone’s souls rose a little higher, on the occasion of the celebration of this special day. Their poems were read by many of the creators who participated in the “Poet of the Week” radio institution since its first year, an institution in the form of a podcast, which established the radio of the Greek Diaspora and which will continue, as assured by its presenter evening, “Voice” journalist, Natassa Vissarionos. This podcast has hosted around 120 poets to date.
Among the special moments of the evening was the transmission of the videos with the recitation of poems sent by Greek poets of the Diaspora.
At the event, the following authors read their poems: Nikos Alexiou, Panagiotis Arvanitis, Anastasios Vistonitis, Ilias Gris, Giannis Efstathiadis, Katerina Thanopoulou, Kostas Kanavouris, Dionysis Karatzas, Spyros Katsimis, Panos Kyparissis, George Lillis, Alexios Mainas, Eva Modinou, Charilaos Nicolaidis, Paulina Pamboudi, Christos Papadopoulos, Konstantinos Papacharalambos, Giannis Papoutsakis, Stratis Paschalis, Maria Patakia, Titos Patrikios, Thodoris Rakopoulos, Angeliki Sidiras, Stavros Stamboglis, Lina Stefanou, Valia Tsaita Tsilimeni, Dimitra Christodoulou.
The musicians-performers participated in the orchestra that performed beautiful music and songs of poetry set to music:
Media Choursoulidou – singing, Loukia Palaiologou – singing, Maria Reboutsika – violin, Alexis Kostas – percussion, Georgia Papadatou – classical guitar, Aliki Markantonatou – ancient lyre, piano.
The event was also attended by the president of the Special Standing Committee on Hellenism of the Diaspora in the Parliament, MP for Cyclades of the ND, Filippos Fortomas.
The event “The voice of the Poets onVoice of Greece” was broadcast directly by Voice of Greece for Greeks all over the world; it was recorded for the ERT Archive.
Similarly, in 2025 an event is planned with poets who participated in the following years.
