The mayor of Skyros, Kyriakos Antonopoulos, discusses the island’s beautiful port, which has won 46 awards and is considered one of the best ecoports in the country. He notes that it is one of the most functional and tourist-friendly ports, as well as environmentally sustainable.
Additionally, Mr. Antonopoulos talks about the success of Skyros’ community-based shipping company and its ferry, “Achilleas.” This passenger ship has been serving the island and the local community since 1980, providing jobs for more than 50 people and families.
He expresses his deep love for Skyros, with its rich tradition, while emphasizing that the island’s biggest challenge is the dwindling water supply.
