“Regional Voice of Greece” in Kasos | 12 Oct. 2024

The completion of two hundred years (1824-2024) since the holocaust of the Heroic Island of Kasos presents an opportunity for reflections and actions.

The exhibition titled “Kasiot Artists Exhibit Their Works” is currently being held across several islands in the Dodecanese. The coordinator and responsible person for the exhibition, Konstantinos Fountis, spoke about the event.

Author Nikos Konstantinidis has recently published a book titled “The History of the Heroic Island of Kasos,” which provides an overview of events from antiquity to the modern era.

Additionally, author Michalis K. Skulios presented his book titled “The History of the Suez Canal and the Kasiots (1859-1970).” As mentioned by the Mayor of the Heroic Island of Kasos, Michalis Emm. Erotokritos, the book was published with the sponsorship of the Municipality of Kasos. It invites readers to “experience the lives of some poorly dressed Kasiot children who started from Agia Marina, Arvanitohori, Poli, Fry and Panagia, and established splendid spiritual, scouting, athletic, union, and other associations in the land of the Nile.”
