This week we will be familiarising ourselves with a type of traditional festival organized during the summer months in the villages of the mainland and the islands, where a given saint is celebrated: Panigiri! The festival does not involve only chanting and praying, but also music, plenty of food and local wine, the three key elements that make a panigiri successful. Today, we shall be listening to a variety of tracks, including songs from a collection titled “At the dance, at the panigiri”, released in 1984. Makis Christodoulopoulos, Elena Giannakaki, Dimitris Kontogiannis and Chrysoula Christopoulou perform together with singer-songwriter Dionysis Savvopoulos.
