The main problem that an observer faces when assessing today’s music landscape in Greece is the massive creative package of the past. It is very easy to fall into the trap of regarding contemporary music production as secondary when compared with the glory of the past. However, we should keep in mind that every era has its masterpieces and its less significant works; we, humans, have the tendency to forget the bad things and focus on the top products of each period. This is unfair for contemporary artists; we should not judge them with the standards and the criteria of the past. Today there are very good songs for all tastes, made by talented songwriters such as Nikos Zournis and Elias Vamvakousis.
