Greek Music Express: MASTERS OF CLASSICAL GUITAR: 3 virtuosi x 3 composers of works for classical guitar | 31 Oct. 2024

Today, we will be listening to modern Greek guitar music drawn from three exquisite albums: In the first one, guitarist Aristotelis Vrettakis plays music of Diamandis Andromidas. The second one is titled Dama dama and involves Stathis Skandalidis playing music of Michalis Koumbios. And the third one includes nine music pieces for guitar by Nikos Kypourgos dedicated to Giorgos Mouloudakis, who is also the soloist of this work. Our selection is based on the beauty of the melodies and their capacity to create images and atmospheres of increased emotional sophistication. This is guitar music of utmost quality that confirms the vibrancy of Greece’s modern classical guitar music scene.
