The Golden Age of Tango on “Historical Walks” | 28 Dec. 2024, 13:00

The “Historical Walks” tribute to Argentine tango concludes with a broadcast filled with authentic melodies. This Saturday, December 28, you will hear iconic pieces from the most important orchestras of the “golden age,” spanning from 1935 to 1955, coinciding with the Peronist era.

This connection is no coincidence, as Juan Perón invested in tango as a cultural product that highlighted Argentina’s identity. During that time, the country was home to over 500 professional orchestras, contributing to the flourishing and dissemination of tango.

DJ Vasilis Notis will focus on the most influential orchestras of this period while also guiding us to the present, showcasing contemporary orchestras that continue the tradition. With his extensive experience and frequent participation in milongas in Buenos Aires, Vasilis Notis promises a unique listening experience.

Produced and presented by Marilena Katsimi

Broadcast: Saturday, December 28, 2024, 1:00 PM Athens time
