Tonight, we conclude our week-long tribute to poet and lyricist Michalis Ganas with a celebration of a truly special collaboration with leading composer Nikos Kypourgos. Specifically, we shall be listening to the imposing soundtrack for the 1991 film ‘The Fugitive’ and the highly original and uplifting songs written for the 2017 theatrical performance of ‘Don Quihote’ with Savina Giannatou. These works highlight just how important and multi-faceted Ganas’ contribution to Greek music has been, as his lyrics became the foundation not only of song cycles but also of music for film and theatre.
