Tune in this Sunday 02 March 2025 at 11:00 am to “Infinitely Curious”, the English-language program of ERT and Voice of Greece with Katerina Batzaki, to explore how political influence affects the freedom of speech in the media, and how communication can either unite or divide the masses. Can media truly shape public opinion? How can it raise or topple governments? And what happens when truth becomes a casualty in the battle for control over the narrative?
In light of the recent tragedy in Tempi, we’ll hear Dr. Ioanna Kostarela, a leading academic in journalism, new media, media and foreign policy interaction, European media, and environmental communication, and Professor Giorgos Pleios, a renowned Professor specializing in the sociology and political economy of media, new media, news sociology, and the sociology of fake news, offering their expertise on how political manipulation and media failures have left the public questioning the truth.
We’ll unpack why media outlets, despite their political affiliations, struggled to expose what really happened—why did they fail to inform, or worse, protect those in power.
