From Mourning to Action: The Tempi Tragedy, Political Impunity & the Helpless Citizen Syndrome | 09 Mar. 2025, 11:00Two years after the devastating Tempi train disaster, Greece is still searching for justice. Why do political failures rarely lead to accountability? How does the cycle of impunity shape our collective psychology? Can grief turn into action?

This Sunday, 09 March 2025, at 11:00 am (Athens time) tune in to “Infinitely Curious”, the English-language show of Voice of Greece with Katerina Batzaki, and listen to three distinguished experts dissecting these urgent questions:

  • Why do politicians rarely face real consequences for their actions?
  • How does this endless cycle of impunity affect our collective psychology? –
  • Can we shift from a sense of powerlessness to action?

The following guests will be answering the questions:
Nikos Passas – Professor of Criminology and Criminal Justice at Northeastern University, specializing in corruption, governance, and citizen movements.
Dr. Eirini Stamouli – Postdoctoral researcher and adjunct lecturer at Hellenic Open University, focusing on corruption and state-corporate crime.
Olga Yeritsidou – Educational psychologist and social activist, analyzing the psychological impact of systemic injustices and how citizens can break free from helplessness.

We’ll also hear powerful voices from the streets—protesters demanding change on the anniversary of Tempi. Is there real potential for transformation, or are we doomed to another cycle of outrage and silence?
