Greek Music Express: Setting to music the poetry of Dionysios Solomos | 25 Mar. 2025

On this episode of Greek Music Express, we are celebrating March 25, the Greek Independence Day and the national liberation revolution of 1821. Our destination is the setting to music of the poetry of Dionysios Solomos, the country’s so-called “national poet”. Christos Leontis, Dimitris Lagios, Terpsichori Papastefanou, Philippos Peristeris, Christos Tsiamoulis, Nena Venetsanou and Giannis Markopoulos are just some of the composers who were inspired by the burning flame of the author of Greece’s national anthem.
