Professor Serafeim Kapros, Chair of the Department of Shipping, Trade and Transport at the University of the Aegean, and Mr. Kostas Petrakis, DPA Manager at Chartworld Shipping Corporation, discussed the recent two-day conference titled “Shipping: From Theory to Practice”, held in Chios, on the program Fair Winds and Following Seas”.
The conference was aimed at cadets from the Chios and Oinousses Merchant Marine Academies, as well as undergraduate and postgraduate students from the University of the Aegean’s Department of Shipping, Trade and Transport.
A central focus was a real-time case study simulation entitled “Collision / Fire in Engine Room / Vessel Loss of Power”, which explored the immediate actions and procedures required by a shipping company to effectively manage such emergencies.
The broadcast also offered a preview of the 2nd Chios International Shipping Summit, a major industry event set to take place in Chios and Oinousses on June 20–21.
