The Director of N.A.T., Georgia Maniati, on “Saturday Shift” | 10 May 2025

The Director of the Seamen’s Pension Fund (N.A.T.), Mrs. Georgia Maniati, talks about the N.A.T. of yesterday, today, and tomorrow. She discusses how the oldest social security institution in both Greece and Europe, founded in 1861 through the personal intervention of Queen Amalia, reached its current state.

Mrs. Maniati has been serving at N.A.T. since 1985, having held various positions. She has witnessed and experienced many different phases of the institution. However, she emphasizes: “N.A.T. must move forward and continue to exist for our seafarers. It is progressing and evolving, and many important things are being done for our sailors and our shipping industry.”

The conversation covers the role of women in shipping, the 2nd N.A.T. Exhibition on Maritime Employment, its collaborations with the state, with scientific and maritime organizations, its activities, as well as the multiple uses and online platforms of N.A.T.
