Elena Falirea welcomed author Giorgos Thanopoulos to the studio of Voice of Greece, on the occasion of the birth anniversary of the “Patriarch” of Greek urban folk music, Markos Vamvakaris.
Thanopoulos is the author of the book “Markos O Syrianos – The Complete Works of Markos Vamvakaris“, a tribute to the legendary figure of rebetiko music.
Markos Vamvakaris was born in Danakos, Syros, on May 10, 1905, and passed away in Nikaia, Attica, on February 8, 1972.
