Just before setting sail on a ten-day voyage aboard a yacht with international guests, Captain Panagiotis Zorzos – graduate of the prestigious Hydra Maritime Academy- spoke on the show “Fair Winds and Following Seas” and Voice of Greece.
Hailing from a long line of seafarers, Captain Zorzos naturally gravitated toward a life at sea.
“As a child, my father would take me on board his ship. I’d wear a huge coverall – way too big for me at the time- and follow him down to the engine room, learning about pistons, liners, gaskets, and bilges. Then I’d climb up to the bridge, discovering a whole different world. I’d talk with the crew about ships, voyages, the sea, the ports. That’s how I bonded with maritime life, fell in love with it, and chose it as my path,” he recalls.
“After my time on ocean-going vessels, I made the transition into maritime tourism and yachting. It’s a demanding field, but one full of promise- and it suits me perfectly. I love what I do,” he adds.
