This week, here at GME, we will be celebrating ten distinguished figures of Greek film music: Giorgos Hatzinasios and Panagiotis Kalantzopoulos today; Eleni Karaindrou and Marios Strofalis tomorrow; Stamatis Kraounakis and Manos Loizos on Wednesday; Evanthia Reboutsika and Stamatis Spanoudakis on Thursday; and Nikos Kypourgos and Nikos Portokaloglou on Friday. Our week-long tribute is inspired by the life and work of director Lakis Papastathis, who sadly passed away in 2023. The occasion? An exhibition about him at the Benaki Museum in Athens and the publication -also by Benaki Museum- of an edited volume dedicated to him. So, expect all of our broadcasts to contain information about the massive contribution of Lakis Papastathis to Greek cinema, TV and culture, more broadly.
