A conversation with Arty Papageorgiou, screenwriter of “The Lord of the Rings” | 13 July 2025, 11:00

This Sunday, 13 July 2025, at 11:00 a.m. (Athens time), the English-language program of Voice of Greece, “Infinitely Curious” with Katerina Batzaki, takes us to Middle-earth with the help of Arty Papageorgiou, the Greek-Australian screenwriter behind The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum and The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim.

Through the lens of “infinite curiosity,” we delve into the world of Tolkien, where imagination becomes a mirror of human truth. Together we explore:
– What does the Ring reveal about human nature?
– Why do flawed, vulnerable heroes resonate more deeply than perfect ones?
– What is the psychology of evil—and how did a grandmother from Greece end up in the shadow of Sauron?

The conversation will unfold against the backdrop of Howard Shore’s legendary score.

Produced and presented by Katerina Batzaki
Broadcast: Sunday, 13 July 2025, at 11:00 a.m. (Athens time)
