Marianna Douka, President of the Lesvos Offshore Sailing Club (LOIATH), speaks on “Kales Thalasses” and the Voice of Greece.
“The sea is my home. I live with it, I love it, and I cannot function away from it. Sailing is a kind of psychotherapy. When we set out into the open sea, we leave all our worries and problems on shore – and we only pick them up again after our voyage,” says Ms. Douka about sailing and life at sea.
Speaking about the Aegean Regatta, she recalls: “It all began tentatively in 2004, when Mr. Sifounakis accepted LOIATH’s proposal. Little by little, year by year, this sporting event grew, became an institution, and today it hosts both Greek and foreign crews, standing as one of the most renowned races in the sailing world.”
