Panagiotis Christofas talks about Mytilene and his beloved island of Lesvos, sharing how he decided to enter public service. He discusses the issues that concern his community, the current summer season, and of course the AEGEAN REGATTA 2025, which this year included the North Aegean island as one of the stops in this major sailing competition.
“Mytilene is the place I love, which is why I returned here—to contribute and to create. Lesvos does not suffer from over-tourism. We want gentle, sustainable tourism development, and so far we have succeeded,” stresses Mr. Christofas.
He also refers to the issue of illegal migration that affected the island in past years. The situation, he noted, is now fairly under control. However, he emphasizs that “the biggest problem for our Municipality is that we need more engineers and economists in order to deliver projects.”
