Stella Tsiropina speaks about Chios—an island tested this summer by wildfires—its sea, its ships, and the event “Thalassi Melani” (Sea Ink).
“We prepared a small tribute to the timeless poet of the sea, Nikos Kavvadias, since Chios has a special connection with the sea and seafaring,” notes Ms. Tsiropina, who is also the general curator of the event taking place at the open-air theater of the 1st Primary School of Vrontados on the evening of 20 August.
She further emphasizes: “The writing of Nikos Kavvadias, along with the musical settings of his poetry, still stands on our horizon—half a century after his death. His poems and prose continue to chart courses through our memories and our conversations.”
