Distinguished journalist, historian, and author Giorgos Sarris is a guest on Wednesday, 15 October 2025, at 22:00 Athens time, on “Remarkable Personalities” with Stavroula Karali.

In the second part of the program’s special feature, the author of the book “Political Assassinations in Greece” discusses the murders of politicians Ion Dragoumis, Grigoris Lambrakis, and Pavlos Bakoyannis.

Mr. Sarris recounts, frame by frame, the events that marked the country’s political history. He reveals the fatal mistake made by Ion Dragoumis that led to his execution on 31 July 1920, and recalls Thanasis Grevias, the student who stood by Grigoris Lambrakis during his final hours at AHEPA Hospital in May 1963. Finally, he speaks extensively about the assassination of Pavlos Bakoyannis by the terrorist organization “17 November”, in central Athens on 26 September 1989 – a killing that shocked Greece and remains etched in the nation’s collective memory.
