SCHEDULE VOICE OF GREECE

Priest, historian and author Lambros Kamperidis is this week’s “Remarkable Personality” | 26 Nov. 2025, 22:00

Father Lambros Kamperidis, priest of the Orthodox Church of Saints Constantine and Helen in Montreal, Canada, is the guest on “Remarkable Personalities”, presented by Stavroula Karali, on Wednesday, 26 November 2025, at 22:00 (Athens time), on Voice of Greece.

In the program, Father Lambros speaks about his journey from Constantinople and Athens to Montreal, his search for his own “identity,” and the calling that led him to dedicate his life to the priesthood.

Priest and historian Lambros Kamperidis also discusses the Monastery of St. John the Forerunner (Prodromos) in Sozopol on the Black Sea — a subject he researched extensively for his PhD — as well as his latest book, «Βίοι Λαθραίοι. Έξι Ακολουθίες για Ασυνόδευτο Τοπίο» (“Clandestine Lives: Six Rites for a Landscape Left Untended”).
The novel, infused with autobiographical elements, presents thirty-six stories of people searching for a lost place in order to define their identity. From the pseudo-Armenian Kamperian to the Smyrna-born Marika Rosa Doloroza and the Cypriot Pampοs, the book’s protagonists struggle to reclaim their sense of self.

Father Kamperidis also speaks about the Greek community of Montreal and the younger generations who keep their Greek identity alive in faraway Canada. In addition, he reflects on Alexandros Papadiamantis, often described as a worldly ascetic — a timeless and ever-relevant Greek author.
