Ahead of the peak summer travel season, Vasilis Kikilias, Minister of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy, visited the Port of Piraeus to review preparations for the expected surge in passenger traffic.
During his visit, the minister met with officers of the Hellenic Coast Guard to discuss the safety measures being implemented not only at the country’s largest port but across Greece’s port network.
Among other things, Kikilias stressed that “Safety comes first,” urging passengers to follow the instructions of Coast Guard personnel. He noted that thousands of Coast Guard officers are deployed at ports throughout the country to ensure both passenger safety and efficient service, adding that ferry occupancy is expected to reach 100 percent during the peak travel period.
