August 15 festivals on “Saturday Shift” | 15 Aug. 2026, 16:00

August 15 is a day of celebration and worship. It marks the great feast of the Virgin Mary, often referred to as the “Easter of the summer.”

In the heart of August, all of Greece comes together to celebrate from one end of the country to the other: from the Peloponnese to Ikaria and from Crete, Kasos, and Amorgos to Kozani, the villages of Zagori, and Kefalonia.

On the Feast of the Virgin Mary, Voice of Greece’s “Fair Winds and Following Seas – Saturday Shift” presents a special two-hour program dedicated to the festivals held in her honor, as well as the traditions and customs associated with August 15 in different parts of Greece.

Wherever you may be on August 15, there is a festival waiting for you. Don’t miss it.
