How many different lives can an actress inhabit over the course of her career? What does it take to understand another person and give them a voice and a physical presence? And what stays with you when the performance ends?
From Didymoteicho and her studies in philology in Ioannina to the National Theatre’s Drama School, followed by a long career in theater and Greek cinema—including her role as Stella in “Broken Vein”—beloved actress Maria Kehayioglou reflects on her choices, her teachers and collaborators, her own experience of teaching, and the characters she has been called upon to understand and bring to life.
