“Greeks at Sea”: From the decks of merchant vessels to the classroom | 07 Feb. 2026, 08:00

On Saturday, 07 February 2026, at 08:00 (Athens time), the Voice of Greece program “Fair Winds and Following Seas – Saturday Shift” with Antonis Karagiannakis welcomes Maria Efthymiou, Emeritus Professor of History at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, and Katerina Evangelakou, director of the educational documentary film “Greeks at Sea.”

The educational documentary follows Maria Efthymiou on two voyages aboard Greek merchant vessels—the RoRo M/V Neptune Thalassa and the bulk carrier M/V World Seafarer—recording the routes, ports of call, living conditions, needs, thoughts and emotions of the crew, as well as everyday life at sea.

The two guests share remarkable stories with listeners, along with the feelings, reflections and experiences drawn from these journeys, and speak about the satisfaction they gain from screening their film to junior and senior high school students across Greece.

Produced and presented by Antonis Karagiannakis
Broadcast: Saturday, 07 February 2026, 08:00 (Athens time) — with a repeat at 20:00.
