Greek Music Express: Songs about trains (Part II) | 25 Feb. 2025

Here at GME, we tried to think of the most appropriate way of honouring the souls lost at the Tempi disaster. We could spend hours talking about the inefficiency of the Greek state and the responsibilities of consecutive governments that undermined public services, privatised the Greek state railways and created the context for such a tragedy to happen. But we won’t – instead, we will share interesting facts about the history of railway travel in Greece and abroad and let the songs generate the words of protest against a system that shamefully led young people to their death.
