A daily journey through the musical tradition of Greece. Featuring old recordings from the archive of the Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation (ERT), new album releases, as well as fresh recordings from ERT’s Musical Ensembles.

Greek poetry, from antiquity to the present day. The show pays tributes to prominent Greek poets and representatives of modern Greek poetry, featuring interviews and rare audio recordings.

Voice of Greece radio is once again including in its program the two-minute poetry tributes titled “Poet of the Week”, with the aim of disseminating, supporting, and promoting the Greek language and culture.Each weekly episode is a tribute to a contemporary poet from Greece or the Greek Diaspora.The poets recite their poems themselves, against original music, composed and played in the studio of the Hellenic Radio by the musicians of the ERT Orchestra, as well as musical pieces by well-loved composers.Seven poems every week, one Greek poem every day travels through the frequencies of “Voice of Greece” to the ends of the earth, where there are Greek voices.

The show attempts to establish a distinct ‘radio society’. A town within a town, occupied by intriguing personalities, cultural spaces and organizations, musicians, and theatrical groups who altogether build new social trails through culture, art, music, and poetry. It might initially sound utopic, but at the end of the day, the show simply aims to slightly enrich our lives and our everyday routine by keeping us good company.

The show is dedicated to Greek seafarers, featuring stories of their day-to-day lives, live testimonies, and connections with Greek ocean liners sailing across the world’s oceans.
