Christos Tsirogiannis: “I am a Greek and I will die a Greek, but I want nothing to do with the Greek State”

The Greek archaeologist and professor at the University of Aarhus in Denmark, Christos Tsirogiannis, expressed his bitterness about the way in which the Greek state treated him, speaking at the Voice of Greece and Prokopis Angelopoulos. The man who has been wrongly, as he says, characterized as the Greek Indiana Jones, explains the way in which he carries out his research for lost antiquities, in an attempt to return them to their rightful owners. He also refers to the threats he has received, even against his own life, in cases where he achieved his goal. Christos Tsirogiannis having already suffered much while working for the Greek State in the past, clarifies: “I do not wish to return to Greece at all. I faced many work-related problems even before I left the country, and after I left more problems came up due to the Greek State. I love my country very much, I will die a Greek when my time comes, but I want nothing to do with the Greek State”. In the show’s last interview, we learn the reasons why the man whom the Ministry of Culture would need more than anyone, does not want to work for it.

The show TWO PERSPECTIVES BUT MANY VIEWS on Thursday, April 28, opened with an interview with Mr. Yiannis Mandalas, representative of the Chios Gum Mastic Growers Association and its successful subsidiary Mastihashop. Mr. Mandalas talks about the flourishing of the Mastic Market, the highly successful “experiment” of Mastihashop, the mastic growers who are among the most satisfied agricultural farmers of the Greek land, and the messages for the coming summer in Chios as regards tourism.
