Mattheos Santamouris: “In Australia the problems that an academic may face are resolved very quickly”

The Voice of Greece hosts Mattheos Santamouris in its studio where he talks about his life in Australia, where he has been working as an academic for the last few years, as well as his Science and the crucial importance of new technologies. The man, who contributed greatly on understanding the decisive role of building materials in what we call “overheating” of cities in recent decades and in our country, visited Greece for a few days and responded to the invitation of Christos Pagonis and Prokopis Angelopoulos for an interview. Mr. Mattheos Santamouris talks about his decision to leave Greece and settle in Australia, accepting a very tempting offer from the University of New South Wales in Sydney, his daily life in Australia and his relationship with the Greek Community. As he says, his adjustment to the new reality was immediate, with his colleagues at the university being very helpful with their welcoming behavior. The distinguished professor also talks about the latest developments in the science of building materials that help reduce the temperature in cities, a problem that concerns his colleagues in Greece, mainly from the 1980s onwards.
