Voice of Greece radio presents a major tribute to Maria Callas, on the occasion of the centennial anniversary of her birth (included in UNESCO’s list of anniversary celebrations for the year 2023.)
It is a collaboration between ERT’s International Program Department, the General Secretariat for Greeks Abroad & Public Diplomacy of the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs, ERT’s Voice of Greece and Third Programme radio stations, and the Maria Callas Greek Society.
The Voice of Greece will broadcast 28 hourly episodes under the general title The Art and Myth of Maria Callas. It is a series of broadcasts that were originally recorded in 1997 for the Third Programme radio station of the Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation (ERT), curated and presented by Kyriakos Loukakos.
The radio journey through the difficult life and fine art of the legendary Greek soprano will be including interviews, rare documents, recordings, and musical pieces performed by the globally renowned diva of lyrical art from 1937 to 1977, the year she passed away.
