”Our Town” tribute to ‎Apostolos Hadjichristos | 04 Mar. 2024, 19:00

On Monday, March 4th, at 19:00-20:00, the show “Our Town” will pay tribute to Apostolos Hadjichristos.

The show will present interesting facts about the composer’s, performer’s, lyricist’s and bouzouki player’s life and work.

Guest on the show is the scholar of folk song, journalist and musician Giorgos Kontogiannis. He will talk about the “Hatzichristos era”, about his special songs that were loved, sung and distinguished by many friends of rebetiko song, but also about how fellow artists and intellectuals saw his case.

Some of the songs are: Pentamorfi, Paraponiariko, Kaixis, As min ximerone pote, Karotseri trava, Aliti me ipes mia vradia, I amaxa mes sti vrohi and many more. In the studio will be the young bouzouki soloist Nikos Apostolopoulos.

This rare artist was fortunate to be sung by the big names of his time but he was not fortunate to experience the recognition of rebetiko music.

Hadjichristos was born on March 4th, 1901 in Smyrna.

Curated and presented by Themis Rodamitis
