Dimitris, son of Savvas Perselis, tells us his story with barges and tugboats. He left his beloved island, Kassos, at the age of 16 with his father’s consent to embark to Rotterdam on the cargo ship “Periolas” of the Lentakis company. Later he will reembark with “Antares” of the company Rethymnis & Kouloukoundis and at some point he would find himself in Australia where he would stay for a long period of his life, as he realized that the naval profession was not for him. He didn’t want any more boats at that time. Years later, he finds himself in Rhodes and at some point after doing business for many years he will go to the sea again with the Hercules tugboats of the Pipinos brothers’ company. We also talk about the island of Kassos, the island’s musical tradition, the mantinades, the lyre, the sousta and much more.
