Documentary filmmaker Angeliki Floraki on “Our Town” | 01 June 2024, 12:00

On Saturday, June 1, at 12:00-13:00 Athens time, the show “Our Town” will present the documentary film “The ‘Atopography’ of Memory“, by Angeliki Floraki.
The film, with a poetic, experiential and archival character, is about two historical cinemas of Tinos, Cine Aiolis and Cine Amore. In the studio, the documentary creator, Angeliki Floraki, will bring back memories of a vivacious and active time for the island, when these cinemas were still a point of reference for the necessary entertainment but also for the social interactions of the residents.

Through her memories of her grandfather’s stories, the filmmaker will share how she started looking for facts, information, photos, videos, interviews and testimonies. She will tell us that the core of her film has to do with cinematography, abandonment, loneliness, memory, and, above all, all the fragments that constitute memory.

Maria Komninos, Professor at the University of Athens and president of the Board of Directors at the Greek Film Archive and Giannis Hinos, who wrote the music for the film, will join us in the show. We will also listen to an audio testimony of Angeliki’s mother, Maroulina Foskolou.

Produced and Presented by Themis Rodamitis
