The maritime analyst, lecturer on maritime issues in educational institutions in the United Kingdom, member of the Chios Club, author and founder of allaboutshpping.uk.com, John Faraclas, talks in his own special way about shipping in our country and about the future of the maritime industry.
Among others, he says: “The Greeks, with their ingenuity and seamanship went everywhere. No other race on the planet has done what the Greeks have done in shipping; this is well-known and well-proven. The only thing we have to pay attention to is to ensure that the Greek State supports shipping with the right people and management”.
We talk about the geopolitical situation on the planet and the various tensions and events that affect the sailing of ships and the transport of cargo and have a direct impact on the consumer. “The straits must be internationalized, so that the various blockades cannot do damage. Our ships are ocean-going vessels. The straits are very important in the global economy”, the Greek shipping analyst emphasizes, among other things.
As for the Greek shipyards, he believes that we have tremendous potential to regain the glory and productivity of the past, stressing that “our country’s shipyards must go under one auspice and stop competing with each other”. Mr Faraklas concludes with “why go to China to build ships?” and “labor peace must be ensured. I am on the worker’s side. We can do many things and grow as a country.”
