On Saturday, August 24, from 12:00 to 13:00, Dionysis Mousmoutis will discuss the history of theater in Zakynthos during the 19th and 20th centuries, as recorded in two significant publications. He will also talk about the island’s musical and social life, as well as its popular entertainments over time, offering us rare and invaluable details of the island’s cultural past.
The show will highlight important figures in Zakynthos’ history, such as Solomos, Kalvos, Lavrangas, Lagios, and others, as well as the island’s literary circles and cinemas. Special attention will be given to performances on the island by notable figures in theater and cinema (like Kotopouli, Kyveli, Avlonitis, and others), as well as by newer musical groups (such as the Zakynthos Singers).
The guest will also discuss contemporary Zakynthos, including the Zakynthos Public Library and its significant contributions.
