The veteran radio operator Giorgos Platanakis from Zakros, Crete, recounts how he ended up studying to become a Radio Operator at the Higher Public School of Merchant Marine in Aspropyrgos in 1971, which at the time felt like being in the military.
He vividly describes how he earned a scholarship for his success at the School, how he mastered Morse code so well, and how he managed to stand out and become one of the top students through hard work, dedication, and a deep love for the profession of Radiotelegraphy.
