Poet of the Week: Antonia Botonaki | 20 Nov. 2024

Born in Lambiriana, Chania, Antonia Botonaki studied dental technology, dietetics, and acting at the State Theater of Northern Greece. She debuted in literature in 2011 with the novel Let It Be and Let It Die (To Neragdalagmeno, published by Iviskos, reissued by Pyxida in 2024).

Her first poetry collection, Shadow’s Trap (Iolkos, 2017), won the “Jean Moreas” Award for Best New Poet. Her second collection, God’s Terminus (Gabrielides, 2018; reissued by Iolkos, 2021), was a 2020 finalist for the National Poetry Award. Her latest collection, They Tossed Her Language to the Cat, was released in June 2024 by Thraka Editions.
