Thomas Sankara: The African Revolutionary | 02 Dec. 2024

A tribute to the heroic figure of the African struggle for independence and popular sovereignty, Thomas Sankara, often called the “Che of Africa.” At 33, he led a revolution against the military regime in Upper Volta, transforming it into Burkina Faso, meaning “land of upright people.” Sankara introduced food security, universal healthcare, and pioneering education systems, while combating corruption through revolutionary committees and people’s courts. His iconic UN speeches envisioned a just society free from exploitation. Assassinated on October 15, 1987, his legacy endures.
