Captain Dimitris Fragoulis from Megara speaks on “Fair Winds and Following Seas” and Voice of Greece.
He talks about the sea, his decision to pursue a career in the navy, the current work conditions aboard ships, and the demands of the times and the new era in shipping.
“I come from a naval family. Two of my uncles were captains, and another two were engineers. From a young age, I heard, saw, and felt the life of the sea and the navy, so I didn’t think twice. I knew from a young age that this was what I wanted to do with my life – to become a captain. Even though my father and I have olive groves and vineyards here in Megara, he never discouraged me. Now that I have completed my journey at sea and on ships, I enjoy working the land and cultivating it, with the soil and the plants,” says Captain Dimitris, among other things.
