Our guest is Giorgos Tsiolis, professor in the Sociology Department at the University of Crete and author of the book Precarious Biographies: Career Pathways and Identities in the Transforming World of Work (in collaboration with INE GSEE, published by Gutenberg).
The author discusses the history of labor from the early 20th century to today, where flexibility, precariousness, and uncertainty dominate. Shedding light on the lives and experiences of contemporary workers, George Tsiolis analyzes how these conditions shape their professional identities, the insecurity they create, and the strategies workers employ to cope with these challenges.
The program features excerpts from biographical narrative interviews that form the basis of the research (read by actors Nadia Baiba and Miltos Tsiantos), along with music selected by the author.
