On Monday, January 27, from 10:00 to 11:00 PM (Athens time), the show “Our Town” will welcome Achilleas Kyriakidis.
The multi-award-winning and multi-talented author, translator, and director will engage in an in-depth and open discussion with Themis Rodamitis. He will reflect on his diverse body of work and his journey as a writer. Special attention will be given to the legendary author Jorge Luis Borges and Kyriakidis’ profound and enduring “relationship” with him. He will also speak about his intellectual connections with great creators such as Flaubert, Faulkner, Fuentes, Cortázar, Queneau, Tarkovsky, Theodorakis, and others. Additionally, the conversation will highlight the significance of the Greek language and the pursuit of beauty as a lifelong journey through it.
The guest will also share insights about his daughter, the acclaimed performer Irini Kyriakidou, his family, and his friends. The discussion will extend to topics like sports, the human body, dance, beauty, time, anniversaries, and politics.
The culture of cities, favorite hangouts, friendships, dedication, fear, and memory will be explored as essential aspects of “life as a performance.”
There will also be mentions of Kyriakidis’ favorite music, some of which will be played during the show. The author and radio personality Yiannis Efstathiadis will speak about the guest.
