Poet of the Week: Yolanda Sakellariou | 03 – 09 Feb. 2025

Seven poems every week, one Greek poem each day, traveling through the frequencies of “The Voice of Greece” to the farthest corners of the world where Greek voices can be heard.

“Voice of Greece,” honoring the memory of poet Yolanda Sakellariou, who passed away on the last day of January 2025, will rebroadcast her poems from Monday, February 3, to Sunday, February 9.

Yolanda Sakellariou was born and lived in Athens. She studied French and Greek Philology and Language at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, as well as Speech, Voice, and Communication Disorders in Paris. She held a PhD in Speech Therapy from Democritus University of Thrace. Her poems and short stories have been published in anthologies, print and online literary magazines, and in a Spanish anthology of contemporary Greek poetry. She had published three poetry collections: Sometimes a Sad Wolf (Gavriilidis, 2009), Invisible Rodent (Gavriilidis, 2013), Yasmin, Ahmed, and Izar, Their Little Son (Mikri Arktos, 2022). Her fourth poetry collection was forthcoming from Mikri Arktos.
