On Saturday, February 22, from 12:00 to 13:00 Athens time (with a repeat broadcast on Sunday, February 23, from 04:00 to 05:00), the show Our Town presents Dinos Christianopoulos’ Thessaloniki.
The renowned poet lived in Thessaloniki in his own unique way He rarely left the city.
This episode aims to showcase Thessaloniki through his eyes—historical landmarks, museums and cultural spaces, friendships and literary circles, daytime and nighttime hangouts, encounters on the streets, homes, churches All of these aspects come to life through the words of the poet’s closest friend, singer Dimitris Nikoloudis, who is a guest on the show.
The episode highlights the historic Diagonal space founded by the poet, its gallery, and its publications. Dimitris Nikoloudis, an artist with a distinctive career, reveals the human side of Dinos Christianopoulos—his connection to the sea, his endless walks along the waterfront, his gatherings with friends at Doree or elsewhere, his fondness for Beautiful Night, and his deep ties to Ano Poli and the Forty Churches district.
There are also references to the poet’s admiration for Cavafy and Sarantaris, as well as his encounters with Nikos Kavvadias.
The show features songs set to Christianopoulos’ poetry, with music by Kougioumtzis and Paraschopoulos, performed by Nikoloudis as well as members of Tsitsanis’ musical circle, of which the poet himself was a part.
