Holy Saturday, April 19, 2025, at 16:00 (Athens time), Bishop Photios of Malawi will be a guest on the radio show “Our Global Voice” with Dimitris Kontogiannis on Voice of Greece.
Bishop Photios will speak about Holy Week in Malawi, a small African country with a modest Greek community, the Resurrection service, and the celebration of Easter.
He will also discuss the Church’s social work during a difficult time for a country facing extreme weather events, political tensions, and economic hardship.
Photios Hatziantoniou was born in Nikaia, Attica, on July 23, 1954. He holds degrees from the School of Philosophy and the School of Theology at the University of Athens. He served as Protosyncellus of the Metropolis of Irinoupolis (2010–2016) and as Head of the Holy Monastery of Saint Savvas in Alexandria (2016–2018).
On December 23, 2018, he was ordained Bishop of the newly established Diocese of Malawi by His Beatitude Theodoros II, Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa.
