The program featured Aliki Soulioti, head of the Victoria commemorations committee for the anniversary of the Pontian Greek genocide. She spoke to us about the events that began on Wednesday, May 14, and will continue until May 29.
Notably, on May 19, the central building of the Greek Community of Melbourne—an iconic symbol of our Greek diaspora—was symbolically illuminated in red. At the main memorial event held on Sunday, May 18, members of the Victoria state government were also in attendance.
“We will never stop fighting for the recognition of the genocide of the Pontian Greeks,” emphasized Aliki Soulioti.
